This is for guests who want to feel closer to the landscape, not insulated from it. Before you book, we’d rather you know exactly what that means — the good and the genuinely inconvenient — than be surprised by either once you arrive.
What we prioritise
- Proximity to the forest. Rooms and cottages are set into a hillside among the trees at Pradhani — the forest is the setting, not a backdrop viewed from a distance.
- Simple, comfortable accommodation. Clean rooms built for people spending their days outdoors, not for guests who want a full-service resort experience.
- Personal hospitality. A resident team of guides and staff who know the area, rather than a large anonymous hotel staff.
- Quiet and time outdoors. Days built around trekking, river time, and birding — not scheduled resort entertainment.
What to genuinely expect
None of this is a complaint — it’s what comes with staying at the edge of a forest rather than in a city hotel. Read it, and come prepared rather than surprised.
- Mobile network and internet are patchy. Patchy, in the way most forest-edge locations are. Expect intermittent mobile signal and don't rely on it for work calls. This is part of the point for many of our guests — but if you need to stay reachable, let the booking desk know in advance so we can talk through what's realistic.
- Power backup and hot water arrangements vary. Check the current backup and hot-water arrangements with the booking desk at the time you book, rather than assuming city-hotel standards.
- Insects, and leeches in the monsoon. Standard for any forest-edge location, more noticeable during the rains — pack accordingly.
- Rain, and forest sounds at night. Especially in the monsoon; the forest is audibly alive after dark, which some guests love and others find takes a night to get used to.
- Uneven ground. Paths between rooms, common areas and the forest are natural terrain, not level paving — wear proper footwear.
- Distance from urban conveniences. Pradhani is a forest-edge location; shops, pharmacies and hospitals are a drive away, not next door.
- Activities change with the season. No — rafting and several water activities depend on the Kali River's current water level and release schedule, which is managed independently of the camp. Availability and run length can change with the season and with dam operations. We'll confirm what's realistic for your dates when you enquire.
